Good embroidery is built to last, but a little care keeps it looking its best. These are the habits we recommend to every client.

Washing

  • Turn the garment inside out before washing to protect the stitches.
  • Use a gentle cycle and cool water; hot water can shrink fabric around dense embroidery.
  • Skip harsh bleach, it dulls coloured thread over time.

Drying

Air-dry where you can. If you must use a dryer, keep it low and remove the piece while slightly damp. Lay heavy pieces like agbada flat to keep them in shape.

Ironing

Iron on the reverse, or place a thin cloth over the embroidery so the iron never touches the thread directly. Never iron straight onto a monogram.

Storing

Store on a padded hanger or folded with acid-free tissue. For heavily embroidered occasion wear, a breathable garment bag keeps dust off without trapping moisture.
